I've listened to a lot of Sassy's albums and this is easily one of her best. This was recorded with the Count Basie Orchestra, but without the Count himself on board (hence the title). The material is top-notch ("Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", "Moonlight in Vermont", "Stardust"), and her voice is in peak form throughout. Her version of Horace Silver's "Doodlin" is a vocal tour de force. Highly recommended. (Edited)
