Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.8/100, a mean average of 71.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

Given the chance to have seen this short-lived supergroup live and I would have jumped at the chance. The opening track genuinely rocks but overall, on vinyl,, I prefer the quality and sound of the original studio recordings to these live versions.
Excellent collection of songs that sound instrumentally excellent live. The vocal mixing isn’t great, but Winwood’s voice is so powerful and the music is so good that I can forgive it.
I bought this second hand on vinyl many years ago and it hasn't had many spins really. I bought it on the back of reviews which I had read on the 'Mr Fantasy' album and having since bought 'Mr Fantasy' on CD can conclude that it is like listening to a different band. Beyond the pretty rubbish cover on this album, the music is more of a jazz affair which I do like. More like Santana meets Courtney Pine. The musical content is really good and this album has grown on me, or I have matured into it! The vocals are not the most inspiring and they sound weak compared to the instrumentation. In fact if the vocals weren't there at all it wouldn't matter.
