Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.0/100, a mean average of 75.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.2.

The rare pop album that peaks at the end.
Actually a good album.
Seems to have a dull-as-death song for every good/great one.
Actually suffers from tracks that go on a little too long removing the original punch.
Good album...Great album cover!
Very much a continuation of their debut "Please" with fluttering synthpop melodies and despairing lyrics, with a few of the tracks hitting on modern-day crises like thatcher-era britain or AIDS. The main difference here is they allow their tracks to stretch out a bit, with most of them sitting around 5 minutes long, and being able to have more time with these great songs is nothing but a good thing. Pretty much rivals their debut in terms of quality, of which it's high.
Solid pop fluff of the highest quality. The light and breezy production really makes those synths and sharp beats sing, but it's real talent is found in just how classy this well-made record is. Delivers absolute classics like What Have I Done To Deserve This? and It's A Sin, but isn't afraid to tackle tougher stuff such as on Kings Cross and It Could Happen Here, and it does it with enough sincerity to show that it isn't just trying to score points easily. An essential piece of the late-80s pop sound.
my favorite PSB album... what have I done to deserve this and its a sin I could listen to until my death bed
The best Pet shop boys album, full of good songs with, it's a sin, the obvious highlight. As always with PSB's, Neil Tennant's weak singing voice tarnishes the songs slightly, but that's only a minor complaint. A very good record.
