There's a lot of ugly here, and I don't just mean the album cover (which has my vote for most ridiculous exhibition of hippy naivete on a 1970 release). The bulk of the trouble takes place on the first side, which is just paint-by-numbers psychedelia. Still, the second side has some nice moments, particularly 'Save me,' the standout track. 'Something You Say' is also quite endearing - it features an alternate vocalist, which is a happy respite from the remarkably bland main singer. The last track (they actually called it 'Epic'! poor silly hippies) is two songs in one, tethered together by a hokey bit of studio 'wizardry,' but it's satisfying enough. 'Gypsy' has a bass figure that sounds a lot like something off of Godspeed's first album.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
