I don't know if this is breaking any new ground, maybe not but the playing is great and the riffs are really catchy. Gets a bit samey after the first half, but I like this band's sound so much that I didn't mind. Thrash/death metal classic and a great listen. I'd feel bad for anyone who missed bonus track "Orgasmatron" cover of Motorhead.
From the golden era of Sepultura. Just as good if not better than most albums put out by the Big 4. Deserve more credit than they get. A top class thrash album

Not offensive or inaccessible. Trash metal album problem #1 for me is the sameness of the songs.
Guitar sounds are from Black Sabbath IV, drum sounds are hilarious for an album made in 1991.
A recommended listen though

Their next two albums are much deeper, more interesting, and uniquely Brazilian, but Arise is still their best. It’s right up there with Rust in Peace, Master of Puppets, and Seasons in the Abyss as the best of the first wave of thrash masterpieces.
