Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.2/100, a mean average of 75.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.0.

Think my frustrations with ice cube are mostly from when lethal injection came out. I keep forgetting that I shouldn't question anything anybody who isn't white who says stuff that I think is wrong, bigotry, racist etc. I know that because of my whiteness I view things through that lens. That makes me the one in the wrong. I understand.
Im starting to see a trend of people being too sensitive for a lot of good music on this website. Too sensitive to get it, and you create the same propaganda the media did at the time of these releases in an attempt to silence them. Actually listen and get rid of that ego. If you think this is actually hatred, then you just don't WANT to get it... and I'm white as snow.
I'm torn here. There's still plenty of quality, and there's no denying Ice Cube's skill. That said, the lyrics go past anger into the unpalatable.
Hmmm. This and efil4zaggin turned me off hip hop for a while at the time they were released. Listening now, I'm not sure how I feel. There's certainly plenty of great music here. Ice cube is definitely a more intelligent and better writer than his old colleagues show on their album of the same year. Both records contain shocking content that made some fans baulk. I guess I feel the NWA record is just a stupid shock tactic with dumb lyrics, nothing more (apart from the incredible production). Maybe I can excuse that record somewhat but this is cold hearted, calculated hate and bigotry against basically anyone not a black male. It's possibly hypocritical to single these albums out considering what I don't have qualms listening to, especially in hip hop. This record is maybe just too much and still makes me angry at some of the shit he said here. Also Are We There Yet? is not a cool look for an anti sell out. I don't hate this record though and I will come back to it.
