Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 60.4/100, a mean average of 59.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 59.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.6.

Mejores canciones: Tonight, God Only Knows, Blue Jean, Loving the Alien, Don't Look Down.

It all went a bit wrong for Bowie in the 80s and 90s, didn't it?. After Let's Dance, DB tried to replicate the mainstream success he had with that album (and had pretty much eluded him up to that point) with another album of pop (what else would you call it?). It didn't work. Apart from the first track, "Loving the Alien" (which is rather brilliant), the album is pretty poor. Although not as poor as the next one would be.

Not as "bad" as everyone tries to say, there's a few strong songs but nothing much worth revisiting more than once a year.
Best song(s): Loving the Alien; I Keep Forgettin'

'Loving The Alien', and 'Blue Jean' best here , a very poor 'God Only Knows', not one of his best albums.

Perhaps Bowie’s most critically panned album. Loving The Alien is another very good opener. God Only Knows & I Keep Forgettin are covers. The rest was from previous Iggy Pop records and some written together for the album. I think Bowie’s concept here was of a big pop star of the 80s and allowed over the top production and delivered a quick follow up to Let’s Dance. For me it’s a fascinating detour. Blue Jean is a great pop song.

After all the genius of the seventies and early eighties, David Bowie finally manages to release a poor album. When i say poor, i mean that only a third of the record is any good. Loving the alien, blue Jean, and, don't look down, are all good. Neighborhood threat, is okay, but the title track is weak, Leiber-Stoller's, I keep forgettin', is bad, and even Bowie isn't going to do justice to The Beach boys classic, God only knows. Bowie did the same thing on, young Americans, covering a classic song, that time, across the universe, and it did'nt work then, and final track, dancing with the big boys, is nothing more than a tuneless noise. No one knew it at this time, but sadly, Bowie would never be great again.

This is not a bad album , but compared to his other work it doesn't come close, there are 3 good tracks - Blue Jean, Don't Look Down & Loving The Alien, the rest is ok just not good enough compared to what he gave us before & after this low point.
