Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.5/100, a mean average of 76.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

There's some good stuff here - Hic and Nunc, and The Four Horsemen. But there's also so much junk and fluff that frankly is just weird and annoying, the worst being the Infinity "song". I get that it's a concept album but it's not for me.

Une sacré claque dès la première écoute...
Œuvre megalo et complexe avec un pied dans le passé (folklore) et un dans l'avenir (synthes) tout en étant ancré dans son époque.

666. The Apocalypse of John. This is a really interesting, lesser known concept double album from the Greek group Aphrodite's Child. Intriguing...and at times, apocalyptic.

The drama of the latter disc's depths tends to spoil the fun...but, there's nothing truly like it when the tracks keep their composure, and gems can be found all over. Not many double-LPs of the era (we're talking '72 ish) can keep a listener captivated like this.

The B side of the first record captures the quality and essence of this group's message. For psychedelic harder rock heads, listen through and through! Unless you're keeping a low and tight collection of records, consider holding on to this one.

A great concept album that grows on you with each listen. Some say pretentious, what concept album isn't? You could probably sat that about any ambitious musical statement. There are some great moments here and they all add up to a fantastic whole. Great fun. Do it!

This was fairly a great album. Through the first half I had this as a future favorite. Definitely some fantastic lyrics on display and worth a listen. Partly tribal

666 was the final chapter of the best greek band of the late 60s, a progressive gem written by Vangelis. The album created a scandal in Greece (a very traditional, regigious and dictatorship country at that time) and was very quickly banned... Aphrodite's child had a very short lifetime, they could have last much longer if the points of vue of Demis Roussos and Vangelis where converging : Demis was more gig and touring oriented, Vangelis was introverted and studio oriented.

They were as big as the Beatles in Greece in those days. Then Demis Roussos and Vangelis went their own way. I followed Vangelis myself. Among the top prog concept albums. Irene Papas on "Infinity" is let's just stay ... coming and going!?!?!?!
