Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 75.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.1.

This is a really excellent album, I had been after a decent vinyl copy for years and was so glad to come across a near mint copy a few weeks ago. Bombay Calling is my favourite track, Deep Purple, I am so disappointed with you, I thought you had written Child in Time! (Edited)

I love the production on this album. It just sounds like the 60's.

Extraordinary album by one violinist David LaFlamme containing such gems as "White Bird", "Hot Summer Day", "Girl With No Eyes" and "Bombay Calling". Yes, it is a known fact that the theme of "Bombay Calling" was given to Deep Purple as the basis for "Child in Time". It's a Beautiful Day in return borrowed Purple's "Wring That Neck" and turned it into "Don and Dewey" on their second album Marrying Maiden (1970). (more on wikipedia)

Listen to the song "Bombay Calling" (on Youtube)and you'll find that Deep Purple has used it, developing the classic song "Child in Time".

If you like the 60s San Francisco sound (Jefferson Airplane) you'll probably like this album. Ethereal folk music, heavy on the violin. Listen to the song White Bird on youtube.
