Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.7/100, a mean average of 72.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.5.

Just excellent for light moods. Flawless. Always wished for Lowell Levinger to work with Joni Mitchell. Or David Bromberg. Or George Harrison. But most of all I wished for a Janis Joplin cover of "Quicksand..."

Quite a nice record, a hidden treasure of sorts. It contrasts well abrasive and relaxed. Such as the difference between Smug and Ride The Wind. There are a few songs I don't care for, but other songs redeem it. Will most likely return to this album in the future. 5.5/10.

This album is a '60s gem. There's a little bit of everything (jazz, rock, country, etc.) in here and it far surpasses the expectations one has about a band that's mostly known for a single radio-friendly hit. Its producer was Charles E. Daniels (yes, THAT Charlie Daniels!).
