Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.6/100, a mean average of 67.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.3.

I didn't think 5 years ago when I first started my MM journey that I would regard "The Pale Emperor" as Marilyn Manson's greatest album, I also didn't think it would find it's way into my heart as one of my favorite albums of all time, but it is. And I love it.

IMO, this is Manson's best album since The Golden Age Of Grotesque. He's taken his music in a bluesy direction, and yet he still sounds just as sinister as ever.

Best Tracks: "Killing Strangers" and "Deep Six"

Not the biggest Manson fan in the world, but I'd be lying if I said I thought this wasn't good.

Nice to hear Manson back with a strong album. After 4 straight underwhelming or straight up turds Manson finally founds his groove again. As a person who grew up with Manson this pleases me greatly. I hope he continues this more bluesy approach as well.

The only reason it's this low rated is because it's "Marilyn Manson", I bet you half of the people who voted haven't even listened to the album.

This is his best work in years. Compared to his earlier work, it's less heavy and more bluesy. I'm really digging the various acoustic instrumentation mixed in with the standard industrial sounds.
