Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.0/100, a mean average of 71.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.6.

It doesn't matter what this album is rated - its influence was its success. It will be forever cherished by those bootleggers that remember "grey Tuesday" and a stab in the heart of corporate creativity-killers. Thanks DM...

It's not the best mash-up album out there. It might not even be the best one released in that year (I think American Edit came out the same year.) Nonetheless, while the album proper probably won't be remembered, what we WILL remember this for is that it launched the career of one of the greatest producers of the 2000s so far. In his young career, Danger has managed to work with MF DOOM, Damon Albarn/Gorillaz, Sparklehorse, Beck, The Black Keys, Cee-Lo, and James Mercer among others. If it wasn't for this work and the publicity it received, he may have never got his chance, so for that fact alone it's hard to consider The Grey Album anything but a smashing success.
