Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.9/100, a mean average of 65.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.6.

It's relieving to see that behind the disco demolishing and anti-poser posing the artists behind these styles of music are generally cool and genuinely respect Madonna and can enjoy some disco.

Good album to make a pit stop if you're going through their catalogue and want some comic relief.

'The Whitey Album' is essentially a Sonic Youth side project which features contributions from Mike Watt from Minute/Firehouse (one track appearance only on "Burning Up") as well as J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr . The album was released January 1989 which sits after Day Dream Nation (1988) but prior to Goo (1990)

It features several experimental tracks if your into that side of Sonic Youth , but more importantly some really interesting moments in:

"G-Force": a strange beat box sampler song featuring Kim's vocal

"MACBETH": an excellent instrumental with at least 4 guitars droning and would also feature a Ciccone Youth accompanying video

"Me & Jill / Hendrix Cosby": a poem written by Lee yet read by Steve

"Two Cool Chicks": a vocal conversation between Kim and Suzanne Sasic (SY's lighting director) , not to be taken seriously and is dripping with sarcasm

"Addicted To Love": IMHO album highlight is this smoking sexy cover of Robert Palmer track . Actually recorded in a Mall karaoke booth , ultimate DIY

"Making The Nature Scene": a completely and excellent reworking of the track which originally appeared on 1983's 'Confusion Is Sex'

"Tuff TittyRap": rather awful track were Thurston makes his rap debut

"Into The Groovey": of course Ciccone Youths 1st single and Madonna cover which pays homage to the groups fascination with Madonna who was born Madonna Louise CICCONE

"Macbeth - Alternative Version": features a more hip-hop beat

Is it one of my favourite SY releases ? No
Is it a must listen for an SY fan ? Absolutely
