Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.0/100, a mean average of 76.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

From the last great days of Prog, this is a fine album. To me, the heydays of prog were mostly over around 1975.
the forthcoming punk effectively ended it. The bands remained, but their style and music went towards rock&jazz fusion and pop (Genesis) the last great prog record (that sold well) was probably "Wish You Were Here", but even that was a way different animal than "Meddle" or "Atom Heart Mother". The time of the plain virtuosity was effectively over.

An overall consistent prog rock album which is extremely well produced. It is very easy to just stick this record on and enjoy. Very consistent and the quality on display is astounding.

This is another very consistent release by GG. What I like about this one is that it really works as a whole. Each and every song has a place among the others and serves the purpose of the album. It is also very well produced, just like "Free Hand". I think the best period production-wise for GG is 74-75. They really do sound great in that period.

Great sound, and consistent too - no mediocre tracks here. One of those albums you don't want to end. Best track would have to be Proclamation: good keyboard riff on the intro, which gets better when the drums come in and shine best with the alternate rhythm after the middle part.
