Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.4/100, a mean average of 78.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.9.

Guitar master

It is amazing how many great albums were made in the early 60,s. This is a hidden gem with great playing and tunes.
These albums rarely achieve new heights but that is okay for me because these are safe choices for everybody.
Recommended with positive feels

On three tracks, Wes plays a "bass guitar," apparently a Gibson Eb-6, which was an early bass guitar (you can pick one up for around $10,000 these days)--not just the low four strings tuned an octave down as became the standard, but all six strings and he plays it up high. I think he gets a great funky tone out of it, which helps make this one of my favorite albums of his.

Oft overlooked, sitting in between two of Wes' greatest albums, this is still a real gem and an important part of his great legacy. The addition of a flute to the ensemble makes for a nice change of pace in jazz and mixes nicely with Wes' beautiful guitar tone.
Toe tapping, breezy fare from Montgomery. Actually more enjoyable than "The Incredible Jazz Guitar of" so disappointing to not see it higher rated.
