One of the best film scores ever.
A timeless piece of work. Hitchcock had originally wanted there to be no music played during the infamous "shower scene", thank God he changed his mind. Those shrieking violins manage to build considerable suspense and shock its audience. Without Herrmann's effort, I fear the film would have had far less of an impact. Even 56 years later, it remains a terrifyingly brilliant soundtrack that perfectly compliments a terrifyingly brilliant film.
