A classic soundtrack to a classic film.
An album of two halves - Side One is the gorgeous Bernard Herrman soundtrack with extraordinary De Niro narration, it is an exhilirating sensuous experience. Highly recommended to jazzer muso's and jazz haters alike (if they like to get their melons twisted). Side Two however is Tom Scott (the MOR '70's session man)performing a kind of smooth jazz mush derived from the original charts, presumably. It is filler. Tom Scott's stuff is always nice, but a far less rewarding listen. The ideal thing would be if you somehow got a mispressing with half of Herbie Hancock's seminal 'Death Wish' score on Side Two instead. That would really cause long term psychological damage.
