Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 53.5/100, a mean average of 49.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 49.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 26.2.

Defenition of a word "generic" - the music, the lyrics, the image... everything about this guy is generic - i guess thats the whole concept. to appeal to the masses. His singles are catchy u cant deny it , but the rest of his dicography is aweful (u can tell , he doesnt care about the music per se, he just tries to craft another "hit" and all the "misses" just end up on albums as filler songs). I really see nothing special about him , in the 90s he would be just another pop-rock artist but i guess nowadays mainstream music is so bad and the competition is so low , that he can pass as some kind of phenomena

An acidic presence in modern culture. Hateful, soulless, lowest common denominator music. Everything he's done since the mid-2010s onwards has become so utterly reductive that it sucks the life out of you. Songwriting that outright refuses to dare or try anything other than the most sickly, predictable, cushy bollocks.
It's astonishing that someone with such an enormous audience chooses to do absolutely nothing of note with it, despite clearly being talented at songwriting. One of the few superstar artists ever who genuinely stands for nothing.
I think Ed is OK!
(no need to downrate him)
Music to play in the background at shopping malls
New Tracy Chapman
Too far into commercialism
I hate Ed Sheeran for the same reason I hate Disney live-action remakes: they're mediocre and get filthy rich for "reviving" something (e.g. acoustic guitar music) that's been done infinitely better before and is still accessible to anyone who has access to these attempts. Literally why name your album 5
With all these negative reviews his next album must be '-'.
Music for the masses. Is that so wrong? Not all music needs to be challenging or provocative.
