I hesitate to call them underrated, because by all accounts they were pretty popular back in the day, but at least on this site, they appear to be underrated. A run of great albums and songs which reveal exceptional craft and a quirky, adventurous nature that reveals new wrinkles with each listen. They're not an experimental band, but they were doing some really interesting and unique stuff, and of course, were the precursor to Crowded House as well. Pretty great!
New wave band with a healthy dose of art rock and synth flourishes. Active from the mid 70s to 1984. Famous for their theatrical performances and music videos involving costume, make-up and surreal settings. Members include Neil and Tim FInn who would go onto form Crowded House.
A band with around 8 great pop tunes, which would have made them world famous in the new wave psychedelic period late 1970s-early 1980s, except they were in New Zealand so never got much international recognition.
