A somewhat overlooked genius compared to his Motown label mates Stevie Wonder & Marvin Gaye. He has written so many great songs and given a lot of them away he was the first to record *I heard it through the Grapevine" which he wrote. He has a great tenor voice, but his solo albums tend to be overlooked. Warm Thoughts and Quiet Storm are his best solo efforts.
