DescriptionThe Goon Sax is an indie pop trio from Brisbane, Australia. Formed in 2013, the band consists of Riley Jones, Louis Forster and James Harrison. Forster is the son of Robert Forster, the co-founder of the Go-Betweens. The band released their debut album, Up to Anything in 2016
The band were names after an Australian wine cask. In Australia, locals call cheap cask wine “goon.” It's sold in disposable silver bags, aptly named “goon sacks.” Unlike a standard . 75-liter bottle of wine, goon's four-liter bag is inflatable. It's fitting that in Australia, the birthplace of boxed wine, being resourceful with your goon sack is a popular pastime. Louis Forster liked the idea of spelling “Sacks” with an X even though the 3 band members were under 18 at the time
