The piece is actually titled "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio." I learned it without ever hearing it-- visited a friend who was a flautist and had been entreated to learn the parts by a group of her friends who proposed to perform the entire piece at a "Bread and Roses " gig the next day. Her repeated playing of the tough parts so infected me with the music that I had to go out and find the album as soon as I got home.

And yes, one might school on the idea of deciding, without an in-house wind player, to perform the piece, and asking an acquaintance on exceedingly short notice to learn about an hour's worth of music originally composed for and played by the worlds greatest flautest. For free, a charity gig...

The gig went great, but I've never looked at Deborah as a peer since-- she can play with anybody if she can do that...

If you are looking for more good Bolling, I recommend a big band standards album called "Jazz A La Francaise" if you can find it.
