Definitely in my top-twenty favourite bands ever, criminally ignored. Along with Orange Juice and Felt they deserve to be considered as a crucial part of the pre-Smiths evolution of UK indie guitar music, from post-punk to the mid 80's. Lead singer Bid's lyrics are often inventive and witty wordplay on subjects little explored elsewhere. But they were also masters of driving post-punk indie rock instrumentals. They were most vital from 79 to 83, did a major label more pop album in 85 that had an actual hit single, split up, and then returned in the 90's to keep releasing quality albums until the present day.
