From an historic perspective the Fugs were a marginally important band in the sixties. True they weren't great musicians, the tunes were tongue in cheek jokes, but there were points to be made. Beat poets weren't always trying to be Whitman or Poe, but they were trying to get a rise out of there audience (and, hopefully, the authorities). They released eleven original albums according to the All Music Guide and about half of em are worth digging through the 'ol vinyl bins for. I hope you get the joke. It's the same one over and over. Luckily it's a good one.
