Top 21 Greatest Music Albums
by Defeat213 Unknown

Just a personal top 21 metal albums of all time. I don't take historical importance into account. Limit one album per band. Plus I managed to get all three Scandinavian countries represented without any fatal stabbings or church related arsons!

Well for some this chart might already be a piece of crap, but in all honesty, this is a bonafide top-3 at least, as is the band itself. Blackwater Park reaches the perfect mixture of death metal and prog, and is the highest point of Opeth's existence so far. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

Arguably Death's best album and a top-5 lock in any legitimate list, definitely the best all-around work by Chuck. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

Am I straying too far from what you expected yet? Hear me out on this one, the sheer atmosphere and epicness conveyed in this album alone makes it a top-5, but when you combine that with the fact that this album doesn't really have a weak track on it and has some great moments on tracks like "Limbs", then this album is worthy of its spot. And Metallica finally charts on this list but not with the album one might expect. I thought about placing MOP here, but I've come to feel that Ride The Lighting is a more well-rounded and consistent album. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

The first, and only album to feature a Dan Swano led band on this list (sorry Moontower), this is probably EoS's peak as a band and the fact that 40 continuous minutes of one song can be so undeniably good earns iit number 5 on this chart. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

This is the only black metal album one this list, nothing against the genre, but this was really the only black metal album I thought deserved a top 20. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

Can I safely say that this is unfortunately Tiamat's only album worth hearing? I mean it's sad that for a band with so much potential they've never had another album near Wildhoney's level. Nevertheless, this is a great piece of music. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

Black Sabbath finally charts! Without a doubt there best album, and in my humble opinion, there are no weak points, although Planet Caravan isn't exactly good. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

If Tiamat is disappointing, then Wintersun is frustrating. Eight years it took them to follow up to this masterpiece. But I digress, their self-titled debut is a must-have for any metalhead and really does have a uniqueness to it. [First added to this chart: 11/27/2013]

I really don't think it takes much explanation for as to why this album charted. Definitely one-of if not the best work of Iron Maiden, considered Powerslave but decided on this instead [First added to this chart: 12/18/2013]
