Top 50 Greatest Music Albums by baileyhawks1523 Unknown

Some background -
I'm only 18 so my music taste is still developing, and as I continue to search I keep finding unknown gems so my list is garenteed to change.
My favorite genre is the alt rock of the late 80's early 90's, so you will see quite a bit of that.
Please give me some feedback as I would love learn from some of you more experienced music listeners out there!

Hopefully I can add more artist/albums soon as I have had to leave so many off!

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 9% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.0/100, a mean average of 87.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 11.2.

Kudos for making the chart of the day! Doolittle and Zen Arcade are fantastic albums, and I love seeing Manic Street Preachers at #3 on your list, as they're a band I'm wanting to listen to more. Very solid choices--I'm looking forward to seeing you expand this!

Very good chart and I'm also a big fan of the indie music of the late eighties and early nineties; I'd say further explore the albums of the artists you all already have in your list like Husker Du (and have a look at Sugar and solo Bob Mould as well), Dinosaur Jr (and I really recommand to look at Sebadoh too), Sonic Youth, Pavement, REM, Wedding Present, Therapy?, Talking Heads, siouxie and the Banshees and the great bands of the 60s and 70s: Beatles, Doors, Pink Floyds and many many others

Very good and diverse chart in terms of the number of artists you've mentioned. I'd imagine at your age if I'd done a similar chart it would have been monopolized by a few artists. Don't fret about getting into diff genres of music as you have decades up your sleeve. Check my top 100 for any ideas.

You definitely have some good albums in there and you are off to a great start for your age. I remember my first time ranking albums, most if not all of my top ones were progressive rock. Eventually you go down different tangents of music, be it jazz, blues, punk, electronic etc etc. You'll find in time that these albums that you once held so dearly don't stand up quite as well to the new streams of music you've opened your mind to, and they will begin to dwindle down until you're left with only the true stars from the bunch.

Anyways what I'm trying to get at is to remain open-minded to other genres and don't lose interest having travelled only a few short paths. I'm looking forward to seeing the expansion to 100 and hope it includes other facets of music.

4/10 - mediocre
(not an insult, just my honest viewpoint)

Really nice, man! Very balanced, but it has to many albums from the same countrys. You could check some good musics from another places as well, check new albums like 10's.
