@mianfei. First off, thanks for the comment. I don't even remember making this list, but looking at it, I can see that I definitely didn't mean to end the list at 40. I could add about 500 more records, and now that I have access to this, maybe I will.
For me not to add Aphex Twin, Nick Drake, Bell and Sebastian, The Cure, Jesus and Mary Jane, Mojave 3, my bloody Valentine, Hank Williams, John Coltrane, spiritualized, beach slang, Main, Loop, Northern picture library, neutral milk hotel, flaming lips, James Brown, Bright eyes, bill Evans ,Brian Eno, Sophie Tucker, Roxy Erickson,Chet Baker, The Carpenters, Ida, Low, etc. And those are only bands that just came into my head right now, there's a ton of jazz and country records that I would have added to the list.
And regarding Miley Cyrus bangerz, I must have added that as an impulse. I remember me loving the song Adore You from that record, and I thought it was one of the best singles of the year. Saying this, at that time, my young daughter was playing a lot of Miley Cyrus and One direction, And I certainly would put some One direction records on that list.
And your comments about the list. Paradoxical? Yes. Repetitive? Yes. I certainly see your point. It was hard for me not to add the complete Carter family collection which is why I had to add both box sets. What was easy for me though, was to not add things like Pink Floyd The Wall, any Beatles records, sex pistols, things like that. Yes I understand why they're on everybody else's list, And those are all classic records, but for me, I never return to them. I've heard them so many times, it's hard for me to get the feeling now that I used to get when I used to listen to those records. And you mentioned expanding it, I will definitely do that since I know this list is out there :). Thanks again. Cheers.
This chart is a little paradoxical — interesting in its choices and combination thereof, yet at the same time repetitive. Its unusual character is enough though that one imagines what it would look like with more listening and expansion to more than forty albums.
