Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a mean average rating of 61.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 60.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 26.4.

My cousin is a huge Taylor Swift fan. I'm not, but this is a pretty good album.

She definitely gets increasingly poppy as far as her albums go...and I'm all about it. Each album has topped her previous one in my opinion. Even bonus tracks like The Moment I Knew are a hoot. Fun and sweet and innocent. I don't care if some people thing she's a corporation; I'm drinking the kool-aid.

taylor swift has gone down that path where she write songs to please people instead of a form of self-expression.

Long gone are the twangy sounds of her earlier songs, despite that vaguely near-southern accent, mostly just an energetic, overwrought and overlong blockbuster-pop album. Undeniably tries to cater to nearly every taste imaginable, but makes the album a bit faceless and sans any coherent artistic direction.

Maybe is not as consistent as her other albums, but this album delivers some brilliant pop tunes. "22", "We are never..." are party anthems.
You can see some kind of departure from her previous albums. Producer Max Martin has influenced greatly in creating No.1 hits for this album, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I know she has her critics, but for me, she's pretty good. She makes good music. Music that ranges from teen-bop pop to serious adult ballads. I appreciate her talent - writing music, writing lyrics and singing.

Taylor Swift is definitely talented and has creative potential which is sometimes hard to see because of the way musical multi-media builds up all the modern-day hype AKA style over substance. Red is perhaps her initial 'grown-up' album and has some good songs on it: '22', the title track, 'We are never...' I like her clarity of voice and the up-beat feel of the production despite the nature of some of the subject matter. I do wonder how she will progress in years to come and look forward to what comes forth.

Taylor Swift may be the best songwriter of her generation. She has a way to create a world and pull you in like a Star Trek holodeck program. Contrary to some other comments here, she is getting better. Her writing is more varied topically while still having that world-weaving spell quality; music is becoming more enjoyable, better produced, better orchestrated.
