Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Very interesting chart. Always like a chart that ventures outside the usual selections. Great job
Even without any notes, and with very little in common with my own chart, I find this an extremely interesting chart. A lot of Asian and Latin music which is very rarely seen here, and a lot of music form the 1980s similarly unusual, makes this interesting to look at even with absolutely no context to it.
