I much prefered it when Nick Cave started writing with guitar again instead of piano. His albums immediately became harder.

Fordlândia is a now-abandoned, prefabricated industrial town established in the Amazon Rainforest in 1928 by American industrialist Henry Ford to secure a source of cultivated rubber for the automobile manufacturing operations of the Ford Motor Company in the United States. Ford had negotiated a deal with the Brazilian government granting his newly formed Companhia Industrial do Brasil a concession of 10,000 km² of land on the banks of the Rio Tapajós near the city of Santarém, Brazil, in exchange for a 9% interest in the profits generated. The project was ultimately a total failure. Despite repeated invitations from residents and periodic promises to do so, Henry Ford never actually visited his ill-fated jungle city. This album is Johannsson's attempt to write music about this event.

When I first heard a track from this album on Marc Riley's show, I thought it was Leonard Cohen. But it wasn't. This album has a great feel to it and superb picture on the cover.

"I wrote my name on a banana peel, There should always be a meal with my name on it." Who couldn't love a band with lyrics like that. David Tatterall is a fantastic guitarist. Go to see them live.

This is another band that my son convinced me to listen to. This is a great album and has a lot in common with Sparks.
