Much like Iron & Wine, Bonnie "Prince" Billy has been honing his song craft from a "4 track"-like DIY beginning to where he can pump out songs that sound as authentic as they are beautiful; authentic as in poems possibly coming from his own diary pages. And he actually sounds happy for once, which gives these songs a warmth that hasn't been present before, which you can hear in the layered harmonies as on "easy does it". Check out the recalled comfort of "you reminded me of something (the glory goes)" and the basstone hues on "for every field there's a mole". Lush and relaxing without being boring with a voice that seems wise beyond his years.
