Awesome record. I love how those three filler-type tracks in the middle (Cavalry Scars, Green Jacket, Activa) actually act as a filter to anybody who is not interested enough in the album to give a complete listen (I believe that's the band's actual purpose for those tracks, according to a short documentary I watched on YouTube).

Go ahead, sit through those few minutes of weird trippiness, because it will be rewarded with possibly the best or at least one of the top three Deerhunter tracks right afterwards, along with an equally awesome second half of the album compared to the first.

Fantastic album that really rewards repeated listening.

I want to love this album unconditionally...it's so fantastic in so many ways, it reaches probably farther than the band ever reached. Unfortunately, it sometimes languishes in the noisy abyss found by many shoegaze-alt bands of this sort. Amply corrected on the follow-up "Halcyon Digest", yet this is still a fantastic album, should be much more highly considered.

I did not expect to like this as much as I did. This is probably my favorite Deerhunter album.

This album is just so fucking cool it's ridiculous. The aura of sounds and psychedelic atmospheres that are created by Bradford Cox and the gang just utterly encapsulates you from the very first listen. Whilst the middle-section of the album loses a little strength, the end picks up to a very strong finish.

Few would agree with me but this is one of the best albums ever. Incredibly touching lyrics and melodies, this gets shoegaze to a totally new level. Unique.
