Early 808 State EP, featuring the timeless 'Pacific State' (the only track here featuring contributions from Gerald, before he left to become A Guy Called Gerald) and the flute-propelled 'State Ritual', a deserving favourite of John Peel's. Found this at my dad's house and asked if I could have it.

Some wild, spiritual big band shit on Black Saint records. Found it for £8 in the delightful Polar Bear records in King's Heath and took a punt on it. I don't love it, but it's cool.

Some low-stakes, mid-'90s Cali rap, focused on partying and nostalgia, with more than a hint of Pharcyde influence. Contains both the original version and 'Love TKO'-sampling remix of minor hit 'Back in the Day', whose chorus I stole for my song of the same name. Found it at a car boot sale.

Picked this up at the wonderful A-1 Records on the Lower East Side - not exactly vintage Arrington (there's nothing here that matches Dancin' In the Key of Life, let alone the Slave stuff), but I couldn't resist picking up Arrington in the wild. Currently have the sleeve framed in my house, because look at it.

Just some super gnarly, noisy sludge metal that I fell in love with upon its release. Had forgotten about it altogether, until I stumbled across it in Polar Bear. I think the sheer shock of seeing it in that particular context propelled me to buy it.
