(I really don't like this.)
Yeah I thought maybe I was just not in the mood at the time when I first heard this. But as the days went on and I just felt no inclination to revisit I started to think maybe this was just not good. Finally, I just listened again and yeah its so corny. The vocals are dreadful and childish and not in a likable way. They are bad whether they are coming through as annoying chirps or really abrasive and annoying or if they are delivered straight with a sort of teenage jaded wanna-be pop star shit. Its bad in all modes.
The beats are these consistently half-baked hyperpop things that are designed to be as bad as humanly possible. The end of spoiled little brat is perhaps the worst couple minutes of music I've heard all year. And the indie pop songs are also laden with this thick coat of crap, stupid affects and vocal dreck, it all makes for an album quite annoying.
But it should be noted I am really just not in the mood for hyperpop right now and maybe I never will be. If you like this and think its fun or cool, sorry if I seem like an asshole. But I reacted worse to this than almost any other album this year (only comparable bad reaction is that new Matthew Sweet piece of cardboard.) [First added to this chart: 09/23/2021]
