As someone who moderately enjoyed Miley's early work, I thought any trace of potential nostalgia was zapped away when I saw her new hairstyle earlier this year. But while the moral issues that plagued her VMA performance could be seen from a mile away, her new work went in a direction I would never have anticipated: Modern pop perfection.
Simply put, "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" are two of the greatest singles of the year, maybe even of the decade. They take a deep look at 2013 relationships and wonder what our generation's future will be. Moreover, Dr. Luke's production is an enormous jump from Can't Be Tamed, rivaling the transition that Justin Timberlake made from N Sync's final album to Justified in eight months. I appreciate the comments you've written for the first few entries, and eventually I'd love to see more of them. Some albums from your chart I'd like to single out for special praise are Same Trailer, Different Park (great crossover country record), Torres (got to see her play live in support of this album), Random Access Memories (a really fun dance record), and Weird Sister (very solid noise pop record, despite the throwaway band name). Great work on your chart!
