recently saw this included in a video about the most disturbing albums on the internet, which made me curious about it; will listen to it soon.

That's the Pad Chenningtion video. Right? But one of my absolute favorite albums ever. I know you were indifferent for Music Has The Right To Children, but you'll probably like this more. Or not.

I also liked this better than Music Has the Right to Children, which for some reason just didn't work for me. Both are worth listening to though, and I think both warrant a revisit from me

there's definitely something eerie about this album. something off, perhaps. i think 9/11 had a pretty strong impact on it whether by design or association. just look at the titles of the final three tracks. i don't know if they meant to evoke those memories or not. certainly, a handful of albums that came out around this time have a strong association with 9/11 in my mind. this one in particular transports me right back to that morning. waking up. hearing the news... seeing the towers on the television. everything about that day and the days that followed. the dread. the fear. the disorientation of it all... those memories are just seared into this album for me. and as troubled and tragic as those memories are, there's a solace in this music. an assurance that we all went through those days together.

in any event, this has to be one of the most influential albums of its time. the music here is beautiful. surreal. ready lets go, music is math, gyroscope, the beach at redpoint, the devil is in the details, and those final three tracks... these are highlights for me. this is a fine example of an album where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. a good film or a vivid memory.

Boards of Canada should be about as "in my alley" as anything, and yet no matter how much I try, both of their most acclaimed albums are merely fine to me. Hundreds of better albums in the same style out there. And pretty much everyone on BEA, RYM and irl who listens to music I like loves them. Similar to Talk Talk. Maybe it's just me Think

Stuff like this tends to happen. And that's fine. Though I'm curious, maybe your hesitance for there acclaimed stuff prevented to give there other two albums a listen? Maybe Campfire and Tomorrows Harvest might be more your alley?
