Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.4/100, a mean average of 79.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.3.

Put the headphones on. Immerse yourself. Thank me later.
This album is an experience from beginning to end and the artist always finds a way to challenge us with the soundscapes that they create. Compared to the duos other work this is slightly darker in tone and creates a lot more tension in the listener. They do this via the use of a monotone sound that gets drilled into your head and then experimenting with multiple layers of instrumentation on top of this creating a rich and glorious environment for us to explore. The music flows fantastically, making the whole record feel so cohesive as one song blends into the next creating an engulfing feeling. They also have this wonderful effect on this album where they create a relaxing vibe with a slight hint of something unordinary or alien making us always on the edge of our seats as they are masters of building suspense. This is exemplified on Sunshine Recorder and The Devil Is In The Details. However, this record is a bloated release with it clocking in at 66 minutes which does drag a little. This is due to the couple of filler tracks and some other moments that feel unnecessary that could reduce the run time. Also, I can see the argument for it being a bit stale and boring with some tracks feeling very slow even though I strongly disagree with this point. Overall, this is another stunning performance by this duo who have created one of the most unique sounds in music and this album, alongside MHTRTC, is them at their peak.
Fav. Tracks: Ready Lets Go, Music Is Math, Beware The Friendly Stranger, Gyroscope, 1969, The Beach At Redpoint, Opening The Mouth, Alpha And Omega, Over The Horizon Radar, Corsair, Magic Window.
Ambient music isn't really my thing, but Boards of Canada is fantastic. These guys really know what they're doing.
An astounding, haunting experience that, similarly to their previous masterpiece, conjures up childhood memories in bittersweet fragments, only this seems to be more oriented in darkness and trauma.
A god tier album that demonstrated that we as a species have to be self aware in this crazy world. Past nor present, be mindful of the situation.

No soy muy fan de este dúo, pero este álbum es de hecho muy disfrutable. Especialmente "1969".
