Definitely more mature than his previous albums but still with a bit of his old sense of humor sprinkled in throughout. Unfortunately this was the last truly great album for him.
junodog4In many ways, it is stronger than The Marshall Mathers LP. It's more consistent, and the awful tracks aren't as awful. What makes it slightly behind is that the heights aren't as high. There's no Stan or Kim on this album, although My Dad's Gone Crazy has always been a favourite of mine.
Sing for the moment is one of the most brilliantly written rap songs. Eminem was on top of the world at one point and this is his last great album.
lightmyway 05/01/2012 08:10Every song feels like a highlight. This album overall is both a response and compliment to his first two. Completes a trilogy of some of the finest hip hop ever (in my opinion).
One of the least favorite albums that I own. People, this really isn't a Top 20 album in any year.

paladisiac 12/11/2011 04:54These songs offer faint shells of the talent that flooded the "marshall mathers lp". The decline of quality output from this guy post-mathers is quite disappointing. But this album is still good, starting with the foreboding call to subvert "white america" ("I could be one of your kids.") "business" rolls well (w/ dr. dre). "square dance" is a dorky fav of mine. Some interesting non-dre production. He brings some tough venom in "'till I collapse". The missteps on this album are like the last -- some of the guests. Obie trice or D12 ruin songs that might not've been good to begin with, and nate dogg's chorus on "'till I collapse" is pedestrian. Oh, and eminem tries BUT CAN'T SING (on "hailie's song")! (And the serious song to his daughter misses his usual humor and charm.) But his daughter adds a humorous element to closing track "my dad's gone crazy". "without me" was his childish "I'm back again" opening hit. It's actually a good album, but still a major drop from the focus and ferocity of the "marshall mathers lp".
"The Difficult Third Album"
good album. Very funny a times and is fun to revisit every once in a while. For some reason, I can't help but laugh every time I hear the beginning of White America.
