Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. I think I'd be more into this if it weren't for the sound of a skipping CD sometimes. Some really cool sounds and the such do make it pretty interesting, although becomes pretty predictable after a bit.. Dunno... needs to be developed better, but a good start.

Much better than I thought. This guy went way downhill after this EP into tech-bro sameness, but a lot of creative stuff is going on here, as brash sounding as the end result may be.
Favorites are the psychopathic geek anthem "Kill EVERYBODY" and "Scatta", which very inventively combines video game music with hip hop. "All I Ask of You" is very soothing, as is "With You Friends". The title track may be the weakest here, but it formed the primary basis of his future material.

I just recently discovered a genre for what I had been calling robot music. Skrillex is king of dubstep. He has created an album that was way past my expectations, not always to my liking, but always a signature of a particularly interesting human.

Skrillex might be the most innovative musician in the business - or at least with any chart presence. You have to argue that "it's not music, it's an air conditioner" (as nitro2k11 put it) is a unique sound; I would argue that there is definite melody guiding all the grinding, crunching. and growling. Two tracks (Bangarang and Scary Monsters) were among the 20 best of 2012.
I listened to this ... unfortunately :(
