Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.5/100, a mean average of 68.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.1.

Most of the damn critics are wrong, do not trust them to trust your own ears. This is a good album, with quality pop/hard rock songs and many of them are bangers. Quality playing and singing is a good start for a fine album.

This was the transition album between the guys trying to be a legit rock band and the cheesemakers that would follow. It does have its moments, but it was definitely a bad omen of schlock to come.

Crap corporate arena rock. I hated this when it came out and like it even less now.

Gee... I didn't realize people took this band seriously. I actually like them - but only in the right mood. Can we not see and enjoy the cheesesauce?

Not sure how this possibly was rated lower than Mr. Moonlight. This is surely a crime punishable to the fullest extent of the law.

Foreigner really thought they had finally recorded the album that would break them big but it wasn't the case. There is nothing wrong with this album. It is a very decent rock album. It seems you just can't hurry love.

By Foreigner standards, this album is a flop. But listen to five of the first six tracks and you'd think it was a brilliant album. Only problem is that it is a patchier than Double Vision - second side is almost forgettable. Dirty White Boy and Head Games are great songs but just not as good as Hot Blooded and Double Vision. Other classics: Love On The Telephone, Seventeen and Women.
