How can a song like Running Into You be from 2020? What took so long? Teenage Fanclub would've killed to have songs like these back in the day. So would most Britpop bands.
So yes, they're retro, but their retro-ism is not a gimmick the way it is for Tame Impala, say, it's just what flawlessly working in the traditional, melodic pop rock paradigm sounds like today. Very few bands still try it this straightforwardly because we all think that well's run dry a long time ago. Not for The Cribs, apparently.
