Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.2/100, a mean average of 77.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

Just gets better. And better. They get better. Never look back. Classic. They can’t beat this can they? Love seeing the old guys like RTJ, Nas and Black Thought release contemporary Hip Hop that stands up to anything the youngsters can do. 2025 would be ideal for RTJ5.

Such an old school rap feel to this record! Every song goes harder than the one before.

This is pretty dope. Been meaning to listen to RTJ for a long time, and I'm glad I did. Will definitely be checking out their other stuff, because this was a really fun record.

It's got that spiritual lyrical feel to it, and equally pretentious beats that do trip, but not enough to break a bone, or convince me I'm not listening to boom bap. Aggression that sounds like purrs next to M.I.A.'s mass murders.

It takes much that a hip hop album nowadays catches my attention and more than just 1-2 songs on an album are outstanding. I listened to hip hop in the 90s and 00s, but in the last 10 years there were barely nothing that was clever, nice to hear and innovative at the same time. But RTJ4 is a different kind of hip hop album. Every song has a special atmosphere, great rap skills, cool melodies. RTJ4 plays on a totally different level than anything else I know in the field of hip hop. I totally understand the hype, and it is justifiably the top hip hop album 2020.

Love the momentum. Walking in the Snow is really topical for 2020. All of the songs are so immediate and catchy, loved it front to back. Great addition to already great discography.

Favorite songs: Walking in the Snow, Ooh La La, JU$T

Have really struggled to get into this one, but can definitely see why many appreciate it. The production qualities are great and whilst the flow is often interesting, there's something about the style of rapping in general that puts me off, I just can't figure out what it is. Killer Mike is clearly by no means a bad rapper, perhaps I just feel his 'exaggerated' rapping style with these beats/production doesn't work?

Who knows, it's a tricky one. The themes are handled well and it's just a shame I can't appreciate a project that has clearly made many people's best of 2020 album lists.
