Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 84.8/100, a mean average of 83.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

Best album by one of the greatest American rock bands. John Fogerty is also one of the great American songwriters as well (he was an absolute hit factory). He's also got one of the best rock voices as well. Any CCR album is good but get this one first! (Edited)

This is by far the most consistent Creedence project with it being full of great songs and brilliant instrumental work. They take a more bluesy approach on here and it really pays off for them and for us as they command songs like Travelin' Band, Run Through The Jungle and Up Around The Bend. The peak of this style comes on the cover of I Heard It Through The Grapevine which they transform and completely make their own. On this song they demonstrate how covers can be so amazing and also give us an instrumental masterpiece of a song. They then continue this high quality for basically the rest of the record which results in a consistent listen that is so satisfying to experience. The one knock against the album I have is that there are two filler songs which are My Baby Left Me and Ooby Dooby. They are only 4 minutes long when combined but they do take me out of the record and do feel unnecessary on this release. If you remove those two songs this is amongst the truly elite of albums. Overall, this is a very high quality record that is full of brilliant performances across the whole group and is by far the greatest Creedence record they created. (Edited)

While this album has a great reputation, I still consider it highly underrated. It says something about the quality of the songs when the covers (besides Grapevine) are the weakest part of the album and they still do them justice. Every original song on this album could have been released as a single and is hit worthy. It deserves the same level of recognition as Led Zeppelin’s fourth album in my opinion. My only gripe is I feel the middle of Ramble Tamble goes on a tad too long, but that’s a tiny nitpick. Truly a masterpiece. (Edited)

Great album, solid songwriting, good ol' dirty south foot-stompin' tunes. I can dig it. (Edited)
