Creedence Clearwater Revival were one of the most iconic American rock bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Despite being from California, their "swamp rock" sound defined the vibe of the American South.
Led by John Fogerty (lead singer and songwriter), the band also included his brother Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar), Stu Cook (bass), and Doug Clifford (drums).
A mix of roots rock, country, and blues. John Fogerty’s distinctive, gravelly voice and simple, driving guitar riffs made their music instantly recognizable.
They were only active under the name CCR for about four years (1968–1972), yet they managed to release seven studio albums and an incredible string of hits. (Edited)

The perfect american rock band
A good, solid, Southern blues/swamp rock band if there ever was one. Most underrated album is their self-titled first. Susie Q is a masterpiece. Cosmo's Factory reads like a greatest hits, but, unlike so many "best of" albums (CCR has way too many of those), this one has a flow, a continuity. CCR definitely rates in the holy trinity of American working class artists, along with Springsteen and Seger.

Damn... CCR either is dripping with the best ever grit/Southern Rock, etc. or incredibly boring dad rock. 9/10 I go with the drenching with soul southern rock, quality rivaling the Stones and Beatles, easily. Their cover of Midnight Special is my all time favorite and speaks to their simplistic yet soulful music... those that don't understand that typically are looking for prog/avant garde music (which often is absent of soul) or they are too young to appreciate the music or its place in music history. Or they simply have a different opinion/life experience than me... hehe.

Much beloved band that I seem to think less and less of as time goes on, probably to the exceedingly simple few major chords used over and over in most of their songs. (Edited)

Great band - well ahead of their time I think, in that they still sound fresh today.

Its strange reading these comments about how CCR are under rated and unrecognized. Actually they were the most successful band of the period. It was unanimous that they're the best American band EVER. Nobody thought otherwise. Even now they're thought of this way. Anyone over 30, anywayl
