Tekin (Muslim-Bigfoot) had a dope post-rock chart back in the day. Would love to see that make a re-appearance...

I plan on making an Ambient/Drone chart at some point down the road. Got any specific vibes you're looking for or just anything ambient (and/or post-rock)?

I don't have a chart specifically for em but here's a couple ambient recommendations:

Black To Comm by Black To Comm
This stuff's a bit weird kind of active ambient, and I guess I read something that dude was like sort of working on top of german pop song things and not necessarily directly covering them but sort of playing off of the structure. I dunno so it's sort of active feeling but still would fit in on the ambient side of things and I highly recommend it. Should be on spotify but here's an official soundcloud playlist of it https://soundcloud.com/_type/sets/black...ck-to-comm

Lisbon by Keith Fullerton Whitman
This is a recording of a liveset of Keith Fullerton Whitman working off of his Playthroughs set up, where he's playing guitar and that's getting fed into this super crazy max/msp patch doing all sorts of pitch analysis and then putting out sine waves and stuff, so everything feels all live performed and is just really fantastic.

I've been looking for some really heavy droning and dark ambient albums.
I've been getting really deep into post rock/metal, ambient, new age and experimental the past year and it seems the bands are never ending.

alright so I'm treating the definition of ambient SUPER liberally (to also include stuff like ambient techno and ambient dub, and some stuff that's more glitch than anything), but here's some stuff I love. (No doubt you've heard many of them)

The Disintegration Loops by William Basinski

Selected Ambient Works Volume II by Aphex Twin

94 Diskont by Oval

Pop by Gas

Irrlicht by Klaus Schulze

Haunt Me Haunt Me, Do It Again by Tim Hecker

Tryptych by Demdike Stare

Hongkong by Monolake

1 2 3 by Pole

The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld by The Orb

Cassettes by Cadu Tenório

Sakura by Susumu Yokota

Entain by Vladislav Delay

Substrata by Biosphere

Opalescent by Jon Hopkins

(No Pussyfooting) by Fripp & Eno

EDIT:
also for post-metal, if you haven't already, check out Alcest, Sólstafir, and Amesoeurs. (All of these, especially the last, tend to generally be more black metal but still maintain distinct post-metal elements)

This is good.

I would agree with this and only add Isis to the list

I do, but their both short. Plus, the ambient one has too much Harkan. I like where the post-rock chart's going, though.

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream

Often regarded as a classic in the genre.
