This is what you get when you throw everything at the wall and everything sticks. Always teetering on the brink of collapse, Since I Left You plays Jenga with loops. Building a tower so high, you'd think it was Australia's attempt to set foot on the moon.

In 2000, out of nowhere this UFO, an album, fruit of the work of a band of Australian music lovers completely crazy, as magical as mad, as gargantuan as beautiful. An album-song that is heard from beginning to end with a stainless pleasure. Composed of 900 samples of music, film dialogue or soundtrack, "Since I Left You" is a joyful tote where rhythmic hip-hop, low disco, soul choruses and cinematographic quotes coexist. The absolute richness of the album is in the mastery of the musicians to stack the layers, chain the cuts. "Frontier Psychiatrist" ... A galloping horse hymn, Lawrence of Arabia's melody, hip-hop rhythms come on replicas of old movies "You're a nut, You're crazy in the coconut !!!", a symphonic orchestra factory in the background, solo crazy scratches ... A UFO among the stars. It's simple, a lot of years later, I still have not recovered. "Since I Left You" is an extremely refreshing album, teeming with thousands of fun ideas. The absolute jewel, the pearl ...

There are 9 Australian albums inside the BEA top 500, Tame “Kevin” Impala has three, ACA-DACA has two, Cavey has two leaving one for the unlikely Courtney Barnett from Preston Melbourne and this one which may well be the best of the lot

Running in one continuous flow for 60 minutes and featuring something like 900 samples ( the quoted “3,500” samples is off the mark) we may never see the likes of it again with legal bindings making things nigh on impossible today
