Country Life by Roxy Music
Out Of The Blue is the best track here although it's better to listen to this song on a live album or greatest hits because the original version here is killed by some terrible sound effects. But nevertheless I stand by the fact that this is one of their best tracks. Overall a good album which earns his place at the 5th rank.

Sally Can't Dance by Lou Reed
One of the missing albums in my Lou Reed discography. It's certainly not his best but can't really understand either why some people think this is one of his worst because it certainly contains some decent songs not in the least the icy but rocking Kill Your Sons. It enters my year chart at the 11th rank.
One Of These Nights by Eagles
The Eagles were really good, weren't they. This album (except for the long and a bit tedious Journey Of The Sorcerer and the sugary I Wish You Peace) is track after track of the highest musical quality you can have. For me Lyin' Eyes is definitely the highlight but the title track and Take It To The Limit follow quickly after that. And the album's rank on my year chart increases from 22 to 10.

Go Girl Crazy! by The Dictators
The complete opposite of the former one: a rawdy and juvenile piece of crap (see ex the terrible cover of I Got You Babe) and the album cover didn't help: this album must have sounded dangerous when it was released but the Ramones would do so much better the next year and of course also all that other punk bands which followed suit. But when I heard the rest of the album my opinion changed a bit: Master Race Rock sounds absolutely fine, the cover of California Sun is not bad and Two Tub Man and Weekend are also very good (proto-)punk tracks. It's by no means a new favorite of mine (I liked their 2001 D.F.F.D. much better) but good enough to let it enter my year chart of 1975 at rank 26.
Ramones by Ramones
The first four tracks of this album are awesome and breath-taking and just show the energy this band is able to emit and of course perfectly exemplified by the first Blitzkrieg Bop which says it all. Further on the album there are still some good songs (53rd & 3rd is even excellent) but never as excellent as the first four and they would increase their stamina on the next album. But of course a classic which stays put at the 5th rank.

Wings At The Speed Of Sound by Wings
I'll start with the positive: Let 'em In and Silly Love Songs are very decent hits. But hits alone can't make an album. Paul isn't the only one who writes and sings the tracks on this album and that doesn't do it any good but the thing is: also his own songs just suck and are very syrupy. I have doubted a long time to include this album in my year chart because of the two hits but I just feel I can't: this is just a bad Wings album from an artist I appreciate very much.
Even In The Quietest Moments... by Supertramp
Supertramp is the perfect band which can blend together prog with an outstanding pop sensibility and while some of the tracks tend to the first (the long Fool's Ouverture), the last is also very present on tracks like From Now On. I just love this album which maybe stuck out like a sore thumb in these years invaded by punk but that doesn't matter and the album moves up from the 15th to the 8th rank.

Get It by Dave Edmunds
There's nothing new about Dave Edmund's rock 'n roll on this album but nevertheless: I love it. I don't know what it is but simple songs like Get Out Of Denver, I Knew The Bride and Here Comes The Weekend have something special. The rest of the album is just ok but I'm however happy to have this album in the lower parts of my year chart at rank 45.

Hell yeah! Both these albums are awesome! Totally agree that Sally Can't Dance is massively UNDERrated! I LOVE it! Gonna throw it on right now!!! ๐
The Kick Inside by Kate Bush
When I first heard Wuthering Heights on my tiny radio at the time (at 15) I was first very intrigued and immediately after that fell in love with it and has remained a personal favorite ever since. I must admit at the time I was a fan of the singles of Kate Bush (which also included The Man With The Child In His Eyes and Them Heavy People) and for me that was enough them. But when I heard the album later on I thought it was a good one overall so I would also consider the whole album a classic. And by relistening to it, it moves from the 11th to the 3rd rank of the year.

Watch by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
And this is somewhat similar: at the time I was an enormous fan of Davy's On The Road Again (the single version) and only a bit later also Mighty Quinn (the live version) was on heavy rotation on my local radio station and I still very much like those two. I'm not a big fan of the prog Manfred Mann version and a track like Martha's Mad Man is not really my cup of tea. But in general these tracks still have some nice guitar parts so I don't dislike them totally. So why not add this one to my year chart at rank 34.
Wave by Patti Smith Group
It's time to promote this classic to a higher rank as it's now only at the 25th rank of the year: I'm ashamed. The first three tracks here are absolute killers with Frederick, Dancing Barefoot and the great cover of (So You Want To Be) A Rock'n Roll Star and these are quickly followed by Revenge and Citizenship. What an album and of course it's got promoted: to the 9th rank (only that high because Hymn and Wave are filler).

Down To Earth by Rainbow
Dio went and Graham Bonnett came and with him also the stadion rock period of Rainbow. But this was also the period that my head was full of hardrock and I just loved Since You've Been Gone and All Night Long. And after that also came Lost In Hollywood and Eyes Of The World. Of course in hindsight, the Dio period was better and also the songs but this album is pure youth sentiment and I still love the four mentioned tracks and the guitar playing of Ritchie Blackmore is still alive and kicking: just listen to the soloing on Since You've Been Gone. And I'm even tolerant enough to put up with the synthesizers although they are sometimes a bit tedious on the 4 other tracks of the album. Nevertheless a worthy addition for my year chart and comes in at the 19th rank.
Closer by Joy Division
The second and last regular album of Joy Division released just a few days after Curtis's dead and my God he certainly had some issues to deal with. This is again a dark but utterly beautiful where the dark synths and the never imitaded voice of Ian Curtis play the most important role. The album begins with the very tribal Atrocity Exhibition which already sets the tone and two of their best tracks, Isolation and A Means To an End quickly follow.
But the bleakest and most desperate track in my view is the last one, Decades, and it even sounds more desperate and bleak on the live album Still where the wobbly sound of the synths even makes this song more sinister. But what a beauty this album has and it even rises from the 10th to the 3rd rank.
So I thought what album could I choose from my wishlist to follow this one. Why not one of one of the most positive bands you can have: Status Quo:

Just Supposin' by Status Quo
Their best years were definitely behind them but they could still produce some fine hits and with Lies and especially What You're Proposing there's absolutely nothing wrong. Otherwise there are still some ok other tracks to be found (Coming and Going with a good blues harmonica) but some of the songs were already the beginning of the end where the synths add up to nothing at all (Over The Edge). And the ballad Rock'n Roll certainly causes some mixed feelings.
But still an OK Quo album which ends up at the 32nd rank of the year.
Youth Of America by Wipers
I knew I had underestimated this album in a big way: after relistening to it: this is another classic. The closing title track is an absolute killer but also the run-ups to this are really good. This is angry punk album that doesn't sound like punk. It increases from the 28th to the 3rd rank of the year.

La Folie by The Stranglers
Golden Brown is a very ok song and I like it better than I used to but tbh I hadn't expected a lot from this album: and it did surpass all my expectations: this album absolutely sucks. I don't think I have ever heard an album as bad as this from any band I really love in general.
