Wayne Shorter's Speak No Evil is listed as being released in 1965, but discogs and Wiki have it down as 1966. Can you please change it accordingly? I tried editing it myself, but I saw no option for changing the year of release. _________________
should just click the icon that's a sheet of paper with a pencil crossed over it that's basically the "Edit Page" icon. You can change the year of release from there.
If you wanna be picky about it, there's a release of it was actually dated as 1964.
Besteveralbums is about using the original release date. I think to avoid confusion, the "admin album" pages should have a link stating the legitimacy of the release date. A section at the bottom of the page would be fine. I actually thought of this when I edited a Ravi Shankar album, but I decided to wait until it was a bigger problem. That's a good idea to include a link to a reputable source, it would help a lot when trying to verify changes. I sometimes leave links as comments when tracking down hard to find albums.
Sometimes not all sites agree on release years, especially for older albums. In most (but not all) cases, I tend to prefer the information from Discogs as the information on there is always backed up with a physical copy of the release (unlike a lot of other sites). Discogs have the first stereo release as 1966 http://www.discogs.com/Wayne-Shorter-Speak-No-Evil/release/382469 and the data on there is marked as correct. One or two other sites list it as 1965, but with the same catalogue number as Discogs (BST 84194). Perhaps there's a mono release that I'm not aware of, so I'm happy to give way if anyone else has more solid information but I think 1966 is now correct.
