Can someone recommend me something where bells (specifically of the lower pitch like church bells or large handbells) are featured prominently? Something like "Ring Ring" by Mika; even though that sort of borders on novelty status, I really dig the bells section |
I have just the record for you:

This sounds interesting, must be good if Pantha Du Prince is involved. |
It's easily my favourite thing he's done, and I'm generally a fan. Another album to tickle that Pantha du Prince itch is this:

Val Maira by Dave DK
Similar vibes, but seemed to gain zero traction when it came out. Worth a listen. (No bells, mind.) _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Yeah this was awesome, exactly what I was looking for, thanks! I've heard some Pantha du Prince here and thought I knew what I was getting into but this was way better than anything I've heard from him before. I guess I just love bells haha.

This was also quite good but yeah maybe a little too much haha. I had a CD of bell sounds and liturgical music I purchased from a church in Bremen, Germany long ago. This reminds me of that. Would be a good companion piece to read Dostoevsky _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

The one-two punch of Pantha du Prince (Black Noise + Elements of Light) was just what I needed. Great rec, very unique take on minimalism and microhouse, although I still like Black Noise more. In fact, I haven't heard it in years and forgot just how good it was. That Dave DK album was great too, maybe slightly too long and uneven. Or maybe it's just that I've had enough minimal electronic for today heh. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

@Applerill
I've thought about what you wanted recced for awhile, and I think I found it in my own chart.

Angel's Egg by Gong
You've probably heard this one before, but I think that Gong have elements of camp, jazz, and avant garde on this one. Not the whole thing, but certain tracks like "Prostitute Poem".
But, I also may be way out of my realm here, so let me know if I am.
(I love all of the Lovely Music albums BTW)

I wanna listen to some positive, upbeat electronic that I can dance to (not actually, but if I wanted to). I’d prefer it if it was instrumental, but either way is fine. It’s a fairly broad definition, I know, but does anyone have a rec? _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

obviously, I know 1/1000th what a lot of other BEA members know regarding this whole interconnected universe of music. But I recently really loved the Cacola album A Gift To Us All. This is a 2021 album and is the highest album on RYM as of now, so not exactly a deep rec. But its super happy and upbeat drum and bass and breakbeat with nice synthy stuff.
I don't know. I tend to have a little feeling of being a fake when recommending music I am not familiar with. _________________ -Ryan
