Sorry, that wasn't the intention. I just meant that the kind of 80s synthpop/funk that album goes for is still largely considered "cheesy", so I don't get why an album in 2015 gets a pass for having largely the same kind of musical and lyrical choices as it's influencers. It just seems like an outlier to me.

Oh ok. That's a fair point. I guess I don't think there's much of an overlap between the people who think 80s synthpop/funk is cheesy and bad, and the people who love Emotion. I think Emotion fans are largely a new generation who haven't really explored its influences much, and if they had those influences would be higher on the charts. I definitely haven't delved into its forerunners enough. Just downloaded Zapp and Rhythm Nation 1814 from your chart - thanks for the inspiration Very Happy

Bonito Generation by Kero Kero Bonito

Fun, cute, quirky, electropop with a lot of character that was a joy to listen to. I probably liked this more than Time 'n' Place, although no song here is as great as Only Acting which made my 100 favourite songs of 2018 playlist. 8/10, and 44/100 or 2016.

I can't resist any more Jameth, Surfer Rosa is a must listen. I just recently got tickets to see Pixies perform Surfer Rosa and Come On Pilgrim next year.

The are qualities of this album I do like about it but the are things that I'm not crazy about. For one, these vocals don't do much for me. He has this whine that might be sincere to some listeners but not really for me. But it is also the music where I'm just not that crazy with the pop punk sound. To me it sounds more meat and potatoes even when the riffing itself is quite sticky. So while I don't hate I see this album being low in my list.

Grade:70 but could be a 65.

Also Chief, while I do understand the sentiment of not ruining the surprises for Pink Floyd. I'd would still keep it. Hell as I type this, I'm giving my second listen to the live album from The Fishmans so anything goes.

Espers II by Espers

This is a great Psych Rock/ Folk album with great consistency and atmosphere. I'd certainly like to hear more from the lead singer, Meg Baird, her performance is a highlight. Just a real solid album right here.

Luigii, that comp is about 2 and a half hours, and the track listing is bizarre to most fans of the band, but go ahead and give it a try if you must. Crying or Very sad

Psycho Realm - A War Story Book I
A+ : The Latch-Key Child
Double X - Ruff, Rugged & Raw
elephant chateau- offshore drilling
Keith Rowe ‎– A Dimension Of Perfectly Ordinary Reality
George Engler ‎– The Inside Of The Outside / Or The Outside Of The Inside
Empyrium- Songs of moors & misty fields
Liekki- Korppi
Artesia - Llydaw
Alberich - NATO-Uniformen (Crap, the next 4 hour album Shocked)

Undun by The Roots

I like the concept of telling the story backwards from end to start, but even knowing that before going in I didn't get much of the overall story. That'll take a few more listens I imagine. It's okay, better than a lot of other hip hop, but not really the sort of hip hop I like. I preferred Phrenology, the only other album of theirs I've heard. 7/10, and 27/28 for 2011.

Rocka do you have a way of hearing all these? I was going to listen to Elephant Chateau but I can't find it. If you do have, then I choose that, otherwise go with Empyrium.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies

This is a stronger album and far more enjoyable overall than Doolittle. I never found myself bored or annoyed like I get with some tracks on that album. Their sound and ambitions on a song-to-song basis seem better focused and so, better realized. It might be Albini's production that I love so much...I definitely hear the sonic similarities to In Utero. The drums sound big and snappy, and yet smooth and like a breathy exhale, much like In Utero, even if that effect comes at Deal or Novoselic's expense. It could be that I'm warming up more to their sound and need to give Doolittle another play. I don't know, but this is a great album and is my favorite Pixies album by a large margin. I'm gonna listen to Come On Pilgrim and the "Pixies" EP to try and dissect their sound a little more, but it's a shame they never released a live album during their formative years...

Favorite track: "River Euphrates"

Purple, have a fun at the show, man! Nothing beats going to see a favorite band.

I don't know any of those albums, so I'm going to pick Gossamer, just because it's fun to say. Gossamer.

Songs Of Moors And Misty Fields by Empyrium

A blend of folk and black metal that doesn't always work, but it's definitely entertaining. Vocals are one of the weaker aspects; whereas, the instrumentation is solid throughout. Something that requires the listener to be in a specific mood to listen to.

Jameth, Mclusky is one of my favorites.

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time by...oji Kondo]

I've never played Zelda before (I know). Thus, I have no emotional attachment to the music. I think I've heard the theme somewhere before, but definitely not all 82 of these tracks! All in all it was a very enjoyable listen with a good amount of variety. Yes, it sounds a bit dated, and yes, it's sprinkled with a good helping of video game soundtrack cheese, but it's worth a listen. 3.5/5.

Ruff, Rugged & Raw by Double X

If you like hardcore 90s hip hop, then here's another album for you. This thing comes out swingin' with some immediate aggression, and it doesn't let up over the course of the album.

I did laugh a couple of times though, because one of the rapper's names is "Sugar Ray", so everytime he said his name I thought of Mark McGrath.

Baystate, Flying Saucer Attack is my favorite of those.

Mclusky Do Dallas by Mclusky

It's getting pretty easy to spot Albini's sound...

Maybe it's because I was listening to them earlier today, or the shared producer, but this band seems strongly influenced by the Pixies. The singer bears a vocal resemblance to Black Francis, same with the guitar. Not bothered by it, but had to mention it since that's what I was thinking listening to this.

This album starts off with some strong tracks. The vocal deliveries given on "No New Wave No Fun" and "Day Of The Deadringers", in particular, are wildly fascinating. After "Day Of The Deadringers", the album takes a dive. The back half of the album struck me as a bland re-tread of the first half. Kind of disappointing, but it doesn't change the fact that there are some good tunes up front.

Listen to Keith Rowe, Chief. The premise of his record is quite interesting, and I think I might listen to it myself tomorrow.
